RESUMO
Desmatamento é a operação que objetiva a supressão total da vegetação nativa de determinada área para o uso alternativo do solo. Considera-se nativa toda vegetação original, remanescente ou regenerada, caracterizada pelas florestas, capoeiras, cerradões, cerrados, campos, campos limpos, vegetações rasteiras, etc. O desmatamento é caracterizado pela prática de corte, capina ou queimada (por fogo ou produtos químicos), que leva à retirada da cobertura vegetal existente em determinada área, para fins de pecuária, agricultura ou expansão urbana. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar o desmatamento no distrito de Joselândia, região do Pantanal de Barão de Melgaço – MT. Foram realizadas entrevistas abertas com moradores e registros fotográficos no local para verificar a situação do desmatamento nesta região do Pantanal Matogrossense. Foi verificado na região desmatamento em diferentes formas, seja para plantio de roças, para introdução de pastagens, para construção de estradas.

DEFORATATION IN THE JOSELÂNDIA DISTRICT, BARÃO DE MELGAÇO, MUNICIPALLITY, PANTANAL OF MATO GROSSO
RESUMO
Deforestation is the operation which aims at the total abolition of the native vegetation of certain area for alternative use of the soil. It is considered native to all original vegetation, remnant or regenerated, characterized by forests, brushland, cerradões, cerrados, fields, clean fields, creeping vegetation, etc. Deforestation is characterized by the practice of cutting, weeding or burned (by fire or chemicals), which leads to the removal of existing vegetation cover in particular area for livestock, agriculture or urban sprawl. This research aims to analyze the deforestation in the Joselândia district, the Pantanal region of Barão de Melgaço-MT. Open interviews were held with residents and taking photographs at the site to verify the situation of deforestation in this region of the Pantanal Matogrossense. It was verified in the region, deforestation in different ways, either to nearby plantations, planting for introduction of pasture land for road construction.
